Hi Snapshot,

An excellent place to start is a site called
www.artdeadline.com
It is well worth the annual fee. I use the email edition. You will find info on just about anything related to the fine art business. there are also calls for entries, competition announcements, a variety of contracts, grant opportunities, et cetera.

Do you have a local artistic newspaper? In my area we have "artvoice" which is a great tool.

Hi all (glad to have found this forum). Sorry for the long post here - but need some help.

I have a question in a similar vein: We have images that definitely are "gallery class" involving some spectacular whale behavior from a recent trip to SE Alaska.

In particular, we're incredibly fortunate enough to have an entire pod of Orca go crazy for us - 50 yards from the small boat we were on - 8 or 9 of these wonderful babies were all breaching over and over, in perfect clear weather with blue skies and snowy mountains for a backdrop. (Can you tell we're still totally stoked about what we were given?)

Anyhow, we've a large number of shots, some with multiple breaches, completely out of the water, etc. and know that they need to be handled carefully (getting these registered this week). A lengthy scouring of the web - couldn't find anything even close to what we were so fortunate to experience and capture..

We've been assured by a local hi-end commercial print service that we can take these up to large print (gallery) formats very easily and will have test strips back this week.

We've not worked with galleries before, and want to take this carefully. Do we need a rep? If so - how to proceed? If not, what's the next best step?

Again, sorry for the long post, but there appears to be a good need for measuring twice on this one.

Thanks very much in advance!
