I started a new blog. It's targeted toward new professional photographers.

If you're interested, take a look.

Funny thing about blogs... Most photographers don't really know who they're marketing to when they make their blogs. I don't think they know how to use blogs as a marketing device.

Agree?

Who are you marketing to if it's for new photographers?

I agree with you Tom and I had a blog sitting unused for over a year. (I have the same option you do.) There are a number of excellent photo blogs out there and I didn't have anything to say or contribute to match those.
I spoke with Blake Discher (http://blakedischer.com/) about my website and link popularity and he asked if I had a blog. At the end, it's about body copy and SEO. So last month I started my blog, posting photos with keywords and some body copy and I hope it works to improve my search engine ranking.

I use my blog to show new work and as a sort of archive of images that sometimes don't go on my main web site... It's also a way to show a little personality next to the images. I don't market it separately, it's become just an extension of my web site.

I've had a blog since 2003.

I like your blog. The images were great. In fact few of them made me so hungry.
Wish you could teach us how to make a blog like yours in the www.
I would love to have similar blog like yours.
Thanks

The most important thing when you start a blog is that you don't do it because you kinda "have to" or because everybody's doing it. Do it because you want to share with the world. Provide content. Share your knowledge. Let people in on the secrets of your work. If you give everything away that you have only then can you replenish your stock. If you keep it to yourself you'll never have anything new to add.
Share tips for new photographers, talk about technical setups for a shot, provide behind the scenes videos or photos and talk about a shoot. This gives potential clients an insight in how you think and work and also helps other photographers in learning. After all it's all about participating in a community and giving back. It's time consuming and I myself am still not there where I want to be in terms of posts. I want to put up at least one per week but you have to spend time on it.
