Anyone have any examples, your own or someone else, of smart phone capable websites? I am gathering up examples in a push to launch a mini version of my website.

One thing I came across was WordPress, which is mostly blog software. I found a company that provides templates that create stylesheets for WordPress. Combine that with a potential to place WordPress onto my hosting agreement for only $1 more per month, and I think I might have a solution to allow clients and potential clients to view my work on their phones.

Anyone have any other ideas? Anyone using a service, or a custom design? WordPress will scale and alter content to work on touch enabled phones and non-touch smartphones, which is why that is the first solution I am investigating.

Thanks Doug. It is really simple how it breaks up the images to just a scroll along top to bottom view. The sizes don't go full width on my BlackBerry 9650, though I still get a good feel for your shooting style. If I recall correctly, the background is Wordpress, which usually reformats nicely for a variety of phone screens. Anyway, very nice portfolio, and thanks for sharing.

I followed your Personal Work link too on my phone, but it broke up a bit. That one viewed better on my MacBook Pro than on my BlackBerry. I am curious about the selective focus, is that tilting lenses, or view camera? Nice images.

Please don't worry about making your site iPhone/mobile phone friendly. Buyers are not using them to look at your sites.

APhotoEditor has the results of a survey he did, which backs up what I have found in my own research--commercial buyers simply are not looking at your sites on these devices.

Thanks Leslie for sharing the survey. The mobile phone website capability is very minimal time and effort, more of a just-in-case or future looking idea. My time on that will be less than the time I spend here. I got asked from some of the corporates I have worked with in the past, in a way of an unusual referral capability.

I noticed a large response for new talent in that survey by browsing the internet, and browsing agent websites. Creatives at Chiat LA basically told me that they only go through reps, which I found a little problematic.

Picture Magazine and Lürzer's Archive also publish interviews with creatives, and how they find talent. While still largely a referral business, as indicated in the survey you shared, I have seen a few clues on where creatives look. Out of the sourcebooks, I found one of the few that gets views, but the overwhelming mention in interviews is Communication Arts magazine.

Anyway, a big thank you for showing up at the APA Focus Group. The planes were loud, so hopefully a quieter location next time.

I can recommend Wordpress for iPad and iPhone friendly sites. No flash, SEO friendly and quick to update.

This was built using a template from themeforest and does what it needs to do.

I agree that people will not be buying from you (mobile) site but it is good to have one just in case they want a quick bit of information - cell number - or to show someone when they are out.
