Hi Has anyone had any experience using twitter for marketing? I use FB extensively to great success but Twitter has been a hard nut to crack!

Cheers

Hi there, we have used twitter very effectively but it really does take time and effort. I think it is worth persevering with though - I don't know how long you've been using it, but it probably took us 6 months for the penny to drop.

We use it to chat to people, to stay in touch with whats going on with our followers - again, a good opportunity for engagement. We use hootsuite to schedule regular postings with links to our blog, and we use it to promote our clients and support other photographers doing things we like.

We have written a few blogs on our site covering this area:

have a look at these:

I hope that they are of use. Let me know how you get on!

Best regards,

Gabrielle

The strategies you use in Facebook aren't always applicable in Twitter. Twitter is so much different from Facebook. A tip from me: Learn to use the hash tags for promotion.

I recently signed up on Twitter with the handle @GordonMoat

So far I'm following specific postings to get a handle on how it is used, and get a quick look at breaking news items in conflict zones. The most prolific photographer I am following at the moment is @MarsCuriosity
