I have read this thread http://www.prophotoforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=1053 and others but I'm not seeing if anyone feels their money is well spent (ROI).
I've been doing my own emails and postcards but want a more stable system and some response data that AA looks like they give.
To everyone out there that uses it, do you feel it has been worth while? What package do you have?
BTW
they have a great little interview/podcast section that is worth listening to.

I just started using AA, so far it's pretty good IMO no jobs yet but not their fault! I was going to go with Adbase but they had such a lousy sales system I decided against it.

I've just sent out my 4th monthly blast. I was getting some "looks", but no job offers. This last time, I coordinated my blast with a number of people who I connected with on Linkedin. I then followed that up with a request for a personnel visit to show my portfolio. I think the combination of these things is what works. I really didn't expect an art director to get one or two blasts and say "wow, I need to hire this guy immediately". The economic times are tough, but I feel like if I continue to send these out even during these tough times, my name and work will be familiar to these potential clients, and when the economy turns around, I'll be ahead of the people who didn't get their name out there.

As far as who I use...Agency Access, and in my opinion, you can't find a more helpful bunch of people. Last week one day, I sent a couple of emails to them around one in the morning. By 10:00 a.m. they were calling me on the phone. The person said it would be easier to explain over the phone than through an email.

I have an adbase subscription. No problems. I have been using them for about three years now. I guess I should look at AA just kinda a pain to switch over unless there is something super different they offer. I will keep an eye on this thread.

It's (Adbase) been convenient for finding out some information I've sought but it has many holes in which I've stumbled. There are companies who I KNOW don't buy photography but are listed as frequent or occasional buyers. Also, there are some contradictions in providing email addresses for some individuals at companies but the general company verbiage says to the equivalent of "don't email me". Also, some large companies might have multiple ad agencies that I've found cross referencing other sources but Adbase might list only 1 or 2 for them. It seems that no source stands alone without cross referencing though.

I think they could organize/code the print and tv advertising better. I have the Standard North American (Artists) package with the TV advertising add-on.

Worth it? I'm stuck with it for several more months so it better be worth it. However, I know I haven't been using it to its fullest capabilities. I've spoken to sales and tech support a couple of times and they've been cool thus far. It seems that they finally fixed their iTunes issue.

Its iTunes aggregation seems random again.

Besides these 2 companies, are there any other players in town?

Thanks.

Fresh Lists has been at it for some time. I know several people who use them and speak well about them.

Thanks James. I knew there was a 3rd choice but could not remember the name.

Is anyone building their lists from workbook.com? My adbase is ending soon so I'm weighing options over the next couple of weeks.

Freshlists closed up shop a little over a year ago. Workbook doesn't have the broadcast options as AA does but I think I'll do the trial after next week. Ad Age's directory would blow my savings for a high-priced Manhattan escort. Woe is me. It's hard out here for a non-pimp.
