Okay, I dug through the archives and there is little discussion of insurance. I note that through APA there are discounts claimed. So for anyone using that APA Insurance discount, is it really a big difference, or have you found another company providing a better deal?

I'm specifically interested in liability, such as when larger clients require a certificate of insurance on a project. I already have excellent health insurance coverage and I have zero employees.

Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, there isn't much, or any, difference these days... I had let my insurance lapse last year when things got really slow and just got back with Tom Pickard and started from scratch.

They used to use Fireman's Fund, but are now writing policies with a company called Great American Insurance Group.

The policy is pretty straight forward and was very affordable, even for someone as slow as me.... uh, business is slow, not me. :-)

Same here. I had an unexpected slowdown last year due to health issues, so I spent more time doing retouch work for other people than I did on shoots. Health is improving greatly, though I am still recovering from a dislocated shoulder, so I'm not taking on too many projects at the moment. Thanks for the link recommendation.

ASMP has Taylor and Taylor. It is a very comprehensive plan.

I just wish NY had affordable health insurance, it's killing me.

My health insurance in California just went up by 29%. I am in perfect health and don't even satisfy the annual deductible because I never have a claim.

I compared my plan's price in CA and NY, same exact plan, monthly premium in CA is about $300...monthly premium in NY....get ready...$1400...a month. Truly criminal.

Luckily I was able to cobra through my ex.
