Currently I have web sites hosted at Workbook, At Edge, and my own domain.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with other hosting sites such as Alt Pic and Photoserve. My objective is to cut down on print exposure such as At Edge, and ramp up on web sites. I would like a consensus of opinion regarding the best sites available.

Here's s thread about AltPick

http://www.prophotoforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=611

They're pretty much a no-brainer because of the price. It's hard to beat. That being said, I personally haven't had any contacts from it in the short time I've been there. The key I think is keeping your name on the front page with updates and news submissions. Your Sure ads are the perfect news. They love that stuff.

I'm pretty familiar with Alt Pick, what I'm more interested in are the other sites I don't know about. Do you know of any other sites?

I just noticed a thread about the same question a few floors down. Not much info in there. I was hoping for more sites.

Read the other thread too Bob.

Other than online source books, I try to submit news to the Wise Elephant blog's "Gigs and Covers" section when I do a job that doesn't make me look like a total noob.

http://blog.wiseelephant.com/

I also tried hanging out in other industry forums like those at How magazine figuring the types of people that hire photographers frequented them... I got bored quick. It's hard to post without looking like you're advertising yourself.

Weird, that wise elephant deal is somehow tagged in with Workbook. they did some cross marketing ploy not too long ago. their hook was immediacy of response from your target market. I sent two emails and blew in a voice mail. Not one response. How's that for an endorsement of a consultant?

Hi Bob,

I just sent you an email in parallel. We didn't receive either your voicemail or emails, we're not sure why not, but please accept our apologies. Feel free to contact me directly.

We are a Workbook partner for email marketing, which is how we are "linked". Our goal is not immediacy, our goal is key information. The immediacy aspect might come from the data you receive from an email campaign vs. a print/mail campaign.

You can learn more about our program for image-makers here:

Still, feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Jason Moriber

Hi Jason,

thanks for getting back to me. I did use the Workbook linked contact from an email blast to get in touch with you. I also used a direct email contact from your web site a few days later. My rep and I were so anxious for new work that we really wanted some help from your company. The following week I placed a phone call and left a voice mail. The reason my memory is so clear on this incident has to do with the irony of the initial Workbook e blast. In paraphrasing, it pretty much stated communication was your skill set and you had found ways to get through the email and telephone roadblock between me and my target audience.

At this point in time, we seem to have resolved most of those issues, because I'm swamped with work.

Best regards,

Bob
